Carey's primary practice area is domestic law. Carey also practices in the areas of general litigation and criminal defense. Before joining the firm, Carey practiced law in Minot, North Dakota, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the areas of criminal defense, domestic law, general litigation, appellate practice, and securities class action litigation.
Carey is a 2003 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Law in Lawrence, Kansas. After graduation from law school, Carey served as law clerk to the Honorable William A. Neumann (retired) of the North Dakota Supreme Court.
Carey grew up in Center, North Dakota and received her undergraduate degree in political science from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Carey is currently licensed to practice law in the state courts of North Dakota, Minnesota and Kansas; the federal courts of North Dakota and Minnesota; and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court. Carey is also a member of the State Bar Association of North Dakota, the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Big Muddy Bar Association, and the Bruce M. Van Sickle American Inn of Court.
