William L. Guy, III

Bill focuses his practice primarily in the areas of estate planning, business succession and probate, serving clients throughout North Dakota and Minnesota.

Bill grew up on a family farm near Amenia, North Dakota. At the University of North Dakota, Bill earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1968 and a law degree in 1976. In 1973, Bill completed 5 years in the U.S. Navy, serving as a Naval Supply Corps officer in the Western Pacific aboard the USS KING (DLG-10) and in New Orleans.

Bill is licensed to practice law in both Minnesota and North Dakota and is certified as an estate law specialist and as an accredited estate planner by the National Association of Estate Planning Councils. In 2002, the attorneys in Cass County and Clay County voted Bill as the "Best of the Bar" in the area of Trusts and Estates. In 2007, Bill received the Outstanding Chair Award from the State Bar Association of North Dakota for chairing the N.D. Uniform Trust Code Legislative Drafting Task Force and for 24 years of chairing the N.D. Business Entity Legislative Drafting Committee. He is also one of several attorneys in the Vogel Law Firm who is a Certified Public Accountant.

Bill is a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and the Red River Valley Estate Planning Council.
