Carlton J. Hunke

Carlton graduated number one in his class from the University of North Dakota Law School in 1967. He also served as editor-in-chief of the North Dakota Law Review in 1966 and 1967. He served as law clerk for the Honorable Charles J. Vogel, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, then joined the Vogel Law Firm in September of 1968. His practice is concentrated in civil litigation, including all phases of insurance defense, from coverage issues to defense of insureds involved in automobile, homeowners, commercial litigation, medical malpractice, and products liability cases. His experience includes numerous jury trials and appeals in all state and federal courts in North Dakota and Minnesota.
Carlton speaks at seminars and meetings for
lawyers and insurance companies on trial practice, personal injury,
and insurance law, including first party no-fault benefits. He has
published articles in the area of no-fault, uninsured and underinsured
motorist coverage issues in North Dakota. He is past president of
the North Dakota Defense Lawyers Association. A father of three
children, Carlton is also an avid tennis player and accomplished
opera singer. He has performed many roles over the past 32 years
with the local opera company and is active in other arts organizations
in the community.
