Tim's focus is primarily criminal defense, plaintiff's personal injury and consumer fraud litigation. In the fall of 2007, Tim was named a Great Plains "Super Lawyer" by Minnesota Law & Politics magazine. This honor was awarded to only the top five percent of lawyers in North Dakota.
Tim has tried numerous criminal (misdemeanor and felony) and civil (large and small) cases to jury verdicts in courts throughout the state of North Dakota. Tim has served as court-approved Class Counsel for several classes of consumers in class action lawsuits in North Dakota including Junkert v. U.S. Bank, District Court, State of North Dakota, Cass County (class of approximately 25,000 North Dakota bank customers) and Rose v. United Equitable, District Court, State of North Dakota, Cass County (class of approximately 8,000 North Dakota nursing home insurance policyholders).
Tim has served on many law-related committees including the State Bar Association of North Dakota's Pattern Jury Instruction Commission (2000 - 2007, Chairperson 2003 - 2004); Volunteer Lawyers Committee (1998 - 1999); Federal Practice Committee (1999 - present); and the Program Committee for the Eighth Circuit Judicial Conference (2005 and 2007). Additionally, Tim has served as the Criminal Justice Act Panel Representative for the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota since 2006
In March of 2007, Tim was named a "North Dakota Young Gun" by North Dakota Business Watch magazine as one of twenty-six young community leaders from across the state.
Tim attended the North Dakota State College of Science and Moorhead State University and received his B.A. summa cum laude in 1991. He graduated cum laude from Hamline University School of Law in 1994 and was a member of the Silver Gavel Honor Society. While at Hamline, he was a member of the Law Review. Following law school, Tim clerked for the Honorable Bruce M. Van Sickle, United States District Court, District of North Dakota.
Tim is married to Bismarck attorney Carmen Miller. They have a daughter, Claudia, and a Brittany Spaniel, Louis.
