Bill devotes his practice to serving business clients in a variety matters including business organization, mergers, acquisitions, and other commercial transactions. He also has a substantial real estate practice focusing principally on commercial real estate acquisitions and exchanges, leasing and finance.

Bill joined the firm in 1977 after graduating cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. He obtained his undergraduate degree in economics from Northwestern University in 1973. Bill is a member of the State Bar Association of North Dakota. He has been active in the community, having served as the chair of the Fargo Moorhead Chamber of Commerce, president of the Children's Village Foundation and as member of the board of the FM Area Foundation. Bill has been a speaker at numerous seminars and meetings for lawyers, real estate brokers and other professionals on issues relating to commercial and real estate law.

Bill grew up in Fargo. He and his wife, Mary, have three grown children, Jordan, Paul and Todd. In their spare time, they enjoy traveling and life at the lakes.
