Sidney J. Spaeth

Sid practices intellectual property law, business law and health care law.

He has extensive experience counseling companies and individuals in the protection, enforcement and commercialization of their intellectual property, the formation and enforcement of their contracts, and the conduct of their businesses. Sid counsels clients in connection with private securities offerings and franchise registrations. He also has extensive experience representing health care providers.

Sid's litigation practice focuses on intellectual property rights and other business litigation matters. He has represented clients in a variety of state and federal courts and arbitration forums in litigation involving trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and intellectual property matters, as well as business litigation involving contracts, securities, franchises, ERISA, real estate, fraud and fiduciary duties.

Sid was raised in Bismarck, where he graduated from Bismarck High School. He graduated from Stanford University in 1983 and worked as a newspaper reporter for five years at The Forum, of Fargo, North Dakota, and at the Wichita Eagle-Beacon in Wichita, Kansas.

He graduated in 1991 from the University of California-Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law, where he was a member of the California Law Review. Upon graduation, Sid clerked for the Honorable Frank J. Magill of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Sid has also attended the University of Minnesota and the University of North Dakota. He is an adjunct professor at North Dakota State University. He and his wife Lynne have six children.
