Pat's practice includes medical malpractice defense litigation, insurance defense litigation, health care law and corporate and banking law. Before joining the firm he was a law clerk to the Honorable Charles J. Vogel, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Pat is a 1961 graduate of St. John's University. He received his law degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1964,where he served on the editorial board of the Notre Dame Law Review. Pat is a Fellow in the International Society of Barristers and a member of the American College of Law and Medicine, the American Board of Trial Advocates, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American Judicature Society. He also serves on the Supreme Court Advisory Committee and has taught trial practice at the University of North Dakota Law School. Pat frequently speaks at medical association events such as ND Medical Society meetings, ND Dental Society meetings, and the American College of Law and Medicine meetings.
Pat is a native of Dickinson, North Dakota and lives on a small ranch outside of Medora, North Dakota. He and his wife, Diane, raise quarterhorses. He serves on the board of directors of Home on the Range for boys and girls, Sentinel Butte, North Dakota as well as serving on the board of directors for the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Foundation, Medora and as a Trustee for the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame.
