Janel practices in the areas of estate planning, probate administration, and tax controversy and advising. Her goal is to help her clients find an effective and efficient solution to their legal problems, whether that be helping them clarify and carry out their unique goals for transferring their hard-earned wealth to the next generation or to resolve complex problems regarding federal and state tax matters. Janel also has expertise in advising non-profits regarding the process of obtaining and maintaining federal tax-exempt status.

Janel graduated with distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law and from Georgetown University Law Center, where she received her LL.M. in tax and was recognized as a Graduate Tax Scholar. She graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Dickinson State University and is a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to law school, Janel worked as an eligibility worker for Stark County Social Services, where she administered government programs, including Medicaid.

A native of Dickinson, North Dakota, Janel enjoys reading, music, and spending time with family.
