Employment Law Seminar 2024

Join us for our biennial employment law update! Ever-changing labor and employment laws and regulations are an endless challenge for HR professionals and business owners. That’s why every other year we offer our Vogel Employment Law Update, bringing you the latest information on new laws, regulatory changes, and recent state and federal court cases of critical importance to North Dakota and Minnesota-area employers. Our expert presenters will cover 2024’s hot employment law issues, including:

  • KrisAnn Norby-Jahner, Attorney: “Hiring and Managing Remote Employees” In this session, Vogel attorney KrisAnn Norby-Jahner addresses legal compliance issues in hiring remote employees locally and in other states, developing remote work policies, managing remote workforces, and avoiding legal pitfalls.
  • MacKenzie Hertz, Attorney: “Managing Leave Requests under New and Existing Laws – Practical Guidance for Compliance” – In this session, Vogel attorney MacKenzie Hertz will cover key concepts in managing leave requests and complying with various overlapping federal and state laws. MacKenzie will discuss employers’ greatest challenges, common mistakes, and practical solutions as illustrated by examples from real life and case law.
  • Bailey Voge, Attorney: “Employment and Labor Case Law Updates” In this session, Vogel attorney Bailey Voge will discuss recent developments in employment caselaw at both the State and Federal level.
  • Seth Thompson, Attorney: “Updates from the National Labor Relations Board.”  In this session, Vogel attorney Seth Thompson uses real-world examples to illustrate key changes in federal labor law, employer recognition and response to union organizing activity, and key labor law concepts employers must know.  Seth’s timely presentation also explores the NLRB’s recent sea change in labor organizing, which allows—and indeed encourages—workers to organize without NLRB formal elections.
  • Lisa Edison-Smith, Attorney: “Lessons From Your Lawyer” – In this session, Vogel attorney Lisa Edison-Smith shares some of the sometimes painful life lessons and employment law hacks that she has learned in over a quarter century of employment and labor law practice.  Whether she is your lawyer or not, grab a cup of coffee and join Lisa for this fun and informative discussion.
  • All Attorneys: “Vogel Panel Presentation – Q&A “

Approved for 6.5 credits for Continuing Legal Education in North Dakota and 5.5 in Minnesota, and attendees may individually apply for SHRM and HRCI credits. Certificate of attendance will be provided.
