Meredith Huseby Larson is an experienced litigator who has joined the Vogel team and is practicing in the Grand Forks office. Meredith is joining the civil litigation team.
Before practicing with the Vogel Law Firm, Meredith spent 15 years serving her community as an Assistant State’s Attorney with Grand Forks County, primarily specializing in the prosecution of domestic violence, sexual assault, and crimes against children, as well as representing the County in a variety of civil matters. Meredith is a passionate and zealous advocate for her clients. She is a proud past recipient of the Community Violence Intervention Center (CVIC) Peacemaker Award in honor of her service to victims of violence and currently serves as a Community Board Member for CVIC. In addition to the CVIC board, Meredith also serves her community as a Board Member for the Grand Forks Growth and Support Center, a non-profit facility day center serving adults with disabilities in the Greater Grand Forks Community. Meredith is also a board member of the North Dakota Bar Foundation.
As an experienced prosecutor, Meredith has personally prosecuted thousands of cases, litigating many of those successfully to bench and/or jury trials, and has written and/or argued more than fifty cases before the North Dakota Supreme Court. In addition to extensive litigation experience, Meredith previously taught as an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Dakota School of Law in the areas of Domestic Violence Law and Trial Advocacy. Meredith is a frequent lecturer with the University of North Dakota, University of North Dakota School of Medicine, George Washington University School of Law, and has also trained locally and regionally on topics relating to the dynamics of domestic violence and child abuse and neglect.
Meredith and her husband, Joel, are both from the Valley City, North Dakota area, where both of their families farmed in rural Barnes and Steele County. Meredith is a third-generation attorney. Her mother, Robin, was Barnes County States Attorney for 17 years and later developed and ran the Indigent Defense program for the State of North Dakota. Meredith has lived in Grand Forks since attending the University of North Dakota where she received her B.A. in Psychology in 2003. Meredith graduated third in her class from the University School of Law in 2006, receiving her J.D. with distinction. During law school, she received numerous awards including being elected to Order of the Coif, Order of the Barristers, Moot Court Champion, and was the recipient of various scholarship awards.
Despite her success and passion for serving others in the legal field, Meredith is most proud of her family. She has been married to her husband and high school sweetheart, Joel, since 2003. Joel is also an attorney in the Grand Forks community. They have three active and dynamic children who are involved in hockey, soccer, wrestling, and theater. In their spare time, Meredith and Joel love to camp together as a family, mountain bike, hike, canoe, and be outdoors as much as possible with friends and family.
